What does the Ontario market mean for your move?

The headlines are a starting point. What I want to know is how the market affects the home you’re selling or the property you’re thinking about buying.

Let’s look at the numbers, then bring the conversation back to your situation.

Market snapshot: three months ending August 2026

Redfin’s Ontario, California summary reports a median sale price of $660,000 across home types for the three months ending August 2026, down 2.2% from the same period a year earlier.

This is a historical citywide snapshot based on Redfin calculations using MLS and/or public records. It is not an estimate of what one home will sell for.

What these numbers can and cannot tell you

A citywide median combines different homes, locations and price points. It doesn’t tell us what your particular home should sell for.

We need to look at relevant comparable properties, current competition, condition and the way the home is positioned. That’s where the numbers become useful to your decision.

If you’re thinking about selling

I’d rather help you play offense from the beginning than react later. That means understanding the competition, preparing the home and explaining the logic behind the asking price. If a property is priced too high and buyer activity slows, the seller may have less room to negotiate. The plan should start before the home goes live.

If you’re thinking about buying

Compare the options available to you today. An established home and a new build may have very different costs, layouts and incentives, even when the asking prices look similar. We’ll look at the actual property and terms, with financing details reviewed by your lender.

Ontario Ranch needs its own comparison

For Ontario Ranch, we need to look at the specific community and the new and resale homes competing for the same buyer. A citywide average won’t show every difference.

Market questions

Is now a good time to buy or sell?

That depends on your circumstances as well as the market. Your timeline, financial position and available alternatives should be part of the conversation.
No. It is a summary of a group of sales. Your property needs a separate comparison.
Sources may use different geographic boundaries, property types, dates or calculations. Compare definitions before treating the figures as contradictory.

Let’s talk about your property, not just the headline.
