Six Key Things Every Real Estate Agent Should Know
If you don’t know this by now, you haven’t been listening and you are way behind the times. Here it is: Your online presence will make or break you as a real estate professional.
If you want to generate more quality leads and get more clients to build your business, you HAVE TO use these specific approaches to market yourself. These tips are assuming that you already have a visually appealing website, a consistently updated blog, and an active Facebook page.
If you do not have those three things, you are further behind than most mid-range agents. If you want to become a top-performing agent in the real estate industry, here’s what you need to do:
Have a Mobile Responsive Website
Simply having a website is not enough, this isn’t 2001. Have a MOBILE RESPONSIVE website. More and more people are actually using their smart phones or tablets to search for their next home and an agent that they want to work with.
Mobile responsive sites make your website functional and easier to use on the different size screens. Further, studies have repeatedly shown that mobile responsive websites result in higher conversion rates, and thus, an increase in sales. Basically, if you don’t have a mobile responsive site, you are shooting yourself in the foot.
Create Relevant, Local Content
So now you’ve got your mobile responsive website, what should you put on it? Homebuyers and sellers do a lot of research about the process of buying and selling – whether or not it’s their first rodeo. You should provide solid, helpful, basic information to guide them. This will also increase your credibility and their likelihood to work with you.
What else is relevant? Well, wouldn’t you as a potential homebuyer want to know about the area? The answer is a resounding “YES!” So be sure to write about positive area statistics, fun facts, entertainment and events in the area, the schools, the great neighborhoods, et cetera.
Retain Potential Client Emails
You should build an email database of everyone you know and meet. Why? Because when you write a new blog about a community event, upbeat local news, and so on – you can also send these out to your email contacts. This is a great, non-intrusive way to stay in the back of their mind. What’s the point? The next time they, or someone they know, is in need of real estate assistance, you will be the first person to come to mind. It’s a great way to get referrals or become someone’s first choice for their next real estate transaction.
If you are paying attention, and I hope you are… that was only three of the six tips. Here’s why (and it’s another tip too): People do not want to read lengthy blogs or articles when they visit a website. Attention spans these days tend to be alarmingly short. When you are blogging, be sure to use smaller paragraphs and get to the point. Check back in two weeks for the last 3 tips!
