Millennials Prefer to Use REALTORS
Millennials are characterized as being tech savvy and wanting answers and results fast. They are also the largest group of homebuyers in the United States (32 percent). The latest figures show that more than 90% of Millennial buyers prefer to enlist the help of a professional REALTOR, so how should you appeal to them?
First, you must have a mobile responsive website. Millennials are far more likely to search for their first or next home on their smartphone or other mobile device. 94% of them look for homes and agent information online.
If you don’t have a mobile responsive website, they are likely to find another agent who’s website is easy to navigate on their device. Oh yeah, and if you don’t even have a website, you’re unlikely to get to work with any Millennials – unless it’s a referral.
Millennials do get referred to agents by family or friends about 45% of the time – so make sure that they can find you online to check you out first. This is also another reason to stay in touch with past clients because it will be easier for them to remember you when their kids grow up and want to purchase a house of their own.
Another key tip, which should actually be common sense to most, is that you need to please your Millennial clients by being quick with responses via text or phone call. Agents are not always known for having good communication; with this group it’s required – so it’s time to step up your game or you’ll become one of the 27% of agents that Millennials would never hire again (the worst number for any age group).
Finally, 51% of Millennials found the home they ultimately purchased online – again a number higher than any other age group. So if you are a listing agent, you had better have clear, high quality photos, virtual tours, and a solid description of your listings.
